Singapore, February 16, 2012 Fairmont Singapore's Mukini is offering the Winter Robata. This is an 11-course kaiseki menu featuring flavours from Hokkaido, with ingredients from the sub-prefectures of Sapporo, Tokachi, Rishiri and Hakodate. Everything is presented in the most gorgeous and elegant way you can imagine. One interesting dish is the salmon chan chan yaki - a fisherman's staple often served as a hot pot. Another is a gorgeous combination of abalone, sea urchin (uni), seaweed and shiogama yaki. This promotion ends on Feb 29, with set menus priced at $280 per person or $350 with sake pairing. For reservations, call 64316156. Meanwhile, Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, is offering a Japanese high tea, available from Saturday to Feb 26. Some of us associate high tea with the image of Japanese housewives gossiping over a steaming pot of the hot beverage. Now, you can get the full Japanese high-tea experience. Award-winning junior pastry sous chef Masakatsu Oshima of Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo, has a variety of sweets available at the Axis Bar and Lounge. There will be cakes and pastries such as the chilli chocolate cake, charcoal macaroons and yuzu macaroons, and sakura and white chocolate mousse. The afternoon tea costs $58 for two or $38 a person. It is served daily from 3pm to 5pm. To make a reservation, call 6885 3098.
